Overlapping offers and priority: what the customer pays
The one rule that decides everything when several offers touch the same product.
The Offers list is ordered by priority (arrows in the Priority column). That order decides which offer prices a product, on the product page, in the cart bar and at checkout. Two prices never stack on one item.
The rules
- Unit-pricing offers (Volume, Mix & match) skip every product already covered by a higher Volume, Mix & match or Buy X get Y offer.
- Add-ons (a free gift over a cart amount, a Frequently-bought-together discount on extras) apply on top of the winning price of the other lines and never block anything.
- Frequently bought together appears alongside a pricing offer on the product page; store-wide offers never take the product-page slot from a product-specific offer.
- The two variants of an A/B test count as one offer, ranked where the test is.
- Overlaps are flagged with an “Overlap” chip in the list and a warning in the wizard.
Example
Offer 1: buy 2 boards, 20% off. Offer 2: any 2 boards for €1,000. Offer 3: free tote over €500. A cart with 2 boards and a tote gets 20% off the boards (offer 1 is higher), no set price (offer 2 skips products offer 1 covers), and the free tote (add-on). Move offer 2 above offer 1 and the set price wins instead.
Behind the scenes
Each MixMaxer discount is allowed to combine with the others; when an offer is saved or reordered, every discount receives a list of the products claimed by the offers above it and the discount Function skips those lines. This is why saving one offer re-syncs all of them.
Common problems
I want both a volume tier and a set price on the same product.
Not possible on the same item, by design. Put the set price on a collection and the volume tier on individual products outside it, or decide by priority.
A discount code stops the offer.
Shopify allows one product discount per item. Product-level codes compete with offers; order-level and shipping codes stack (see “Combining with discount codes”).
